As it's now the new years (Happy 2012!!!), resolutions might include cleaning up the house and purging. Instead of throwing away items that are out of style or useless to you, the "garbage" could really be someone else's treasure. Who would have thought your old medicines that you refused to finish could actually be re-used? Or that your old glasses, that bring back the terrible memories of being called four eyes, could also be just what the eye doctor ordered! I've done a bit of research and recycling is not only great for the environment, but also a charitable thing to do. How cool is that? Feel free to let me know if you know of any other charities that take recycleables, and pass on the word!
Pass on your old reading glasses to those who need it. I know I am pretty blind, and if I couldn't afford it or it wasn't available to me, I know I would really, really appreciate being able to see. http://www.twecs.ca/eyeglassrecycling.php Donate your pop/ beer tabs for someone who needs a wheel chair. Cheers to that! http://www.poptabsforwheelchairs.ca/ Did you know that, on average, it takes about 18 months before your electronics are "out of date"? Talk about keeping up with the times! Donate your old computer to help training in third world countries. http://www.computeraid.org/ Donate your old car! It's a gas- guzzler anyways, I'm sure :) http://www.charitycar.ca/ Donate your empty printer cartridges. (or refill them, to reduce...) http://www.cashforcartridges.co.uk/ Donate your old, not expired medicines, along with cell phones, printer cartridges, books, records, stamps, etc. http://www.intercare.org.uk/donate-medicines
