Recently, I have been totally inspired by the Kitchen Cousins, especially their 'Rustic Luxe' episode. A lightbulb went off for me. I've always been a fan of contrast- black and white, dark and light, old and new, and now, my new favorite style: Rustic Luxe. Two opposite styles coming together for one bold statement! There is something to be said about the organic, earthy feel of woods and rock, combined with the high gloss/ high style to create a polar opposite, yet beautifully contrasting style. And of course, on that topic of contrast, I must present the high and low options for a Rustic Luxe- styled console table. Which do you prefer? (If money wasn't an option!) High. It's only fun when it pays... Is the laundry room the one room that practicality wins out over beauty? There are hundreds of thousands of photos of beatiful living spaces- bedrooms, dining areas, bathrooms, kitchens. When it comes to the laundry room, it's a lot harder to find an overly beautiful laundry room. Maybe it's because no one really enjoys doing laundry, so what would be the point of putting much effort into a beautiful, well designed laundry room. Well, as much as I dislike (hate is a strong word) doing laundry, I am not getting out of it. Thanks a lot, clothe diapers... However, I do think that doing laundry in a beautiful space would make it less brutal. With some great organization, hidden junk, and a good cheery colour or bright white, I bet I might even catch myself not despising laundry so much. Maybe. I'll get to working on that one... In order to bring a little bit of joy to the laundry chore, here are a few fun things I can picture going into my laundry room. I'm a sucker for the weird things that make me smile. Much needed when I'm all grumpy because I am doing laundry. Every laundry room needs hooks, right? So, what laundry room is complete without a jackalope wall hook? But I can't think of anything less attractive than massive jugs of detergent and bleach, so why not think out of the box a little and use a nice container like below. Just throw a label on it so there is no confusion about what's what! I guess we'd need to change the saying to "When life hands you limes, start folding laundry" with this lime exploding jug! Or not... I couldn't commit to a cheezy name like "Laundry Love" without sounding like a liar, so "Laundry LIKE" it is. Let me know what you think! Browse Kids Products on Houzz- For Example: |
