Sanding, Painting and Then...

Sanding. Yay.

The beginning of the renovation seemed to be really long and drawn out. But when the drywalling and mudding was done, even though the next step was the rather not fun (sanding), I was really excited to just get it done. For a person that is borderline very OCD, this part was rough. Dust and dirtiness and yuck. But you've got to do what you've got to do! 

The couple that renovates together stays together.

Once all the drywall was up and primed with drywall primer (yes, you need a specific primer after drywalling), I finally got to paint. This meant only one thing to me. As soon as I was done, it was time for installing the cabinets!

Drywall Primer? Check!

It was a combination of not having much paint left from the rest of the house and just wanting to get the cabinets up (fairly desperately at this point), but I did a really great first coat of paint after the primer coat, and that was that. I used every drop of paint we had, and I had just enough to paint everywhere except behind the cabinets. 

But who needs paint behind the cabinets? Not this girl. What I needed was a kitchen.

Painting where it counts!

I really do love the main colour of the house, which is another reason why I didn't switch it up. I had debated changing the kitchen colour, but I just was too attached to Benjamin Moore Grey Owl. 
It's such a great colour! 

We were so close at this point to the fun part of actually installing the kitchen. Those kitchen cabinets had been built for three months already. I kid you not. Uh... I may have been a little excited, and probably wouldn't have done that if I were to have foreseen the many days of climbing around cabinets in our basement. And in the laundry room. And in the spare room. 

What do you think so far? It's not done yet, but definitely coming together!
